Emotional & Social
Wellbeing

School-based emotional well-being programs can include mindfulness practices, such as meditation and breathing exercise, to help educators manage stress. Creating a supportive environment where educators feel safe to express their emotions is a crucial strategy.

As an administrator, I would want my staff to understand that they are valued and that I understand the stress of their everyday life at school. I would want to bring to campus an activity for the staff, that would help promote their wellbeing and help nurture their mental health.

Social wellbeing in schools for educators encourages the development of strong relationships and a supportive environment. Team-building activities for staff can foster collaboration and mutual respect. Additionally, promoting open communication channels and mental health resources ensures that our educators feel heard and supported.

One year, as a Team Lead, I gathered my band level co-workers, and we did an Escape Room followed by a group dinner. The Escape Room helped us to grow as a group. It helped us showcase our strengths, in a fun and challenging group setting. We felt more connected to each other, which showed throughout the school year. There was a camaraderie that the other and levels noted, as did the students. I have to say, it was probably one of the best years of my teaching career.
